On Thursday, February 5, Kitah Gimel went to Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland. This trip coincided with their recently concluded Space Unit. The visit included a planetarium show, a workshop where they learned about moon craters, and many interesting exhibits throughout the museum. The students were in awe as they looked through the huge telescopes. Gimel students demonstrated their knowledge (thank you, Morah Vanina) through insightful responses and meaningful questions throughout the day.

“It was super interesting to see one of the biggest telescopes in the world. It was so cool to see how they put it away when we were done using it. They put it in the correct position, and then they closed the roof that they had opened before, to protect it.”

“The highlight of my day was the planetarium, because I learned something new about Europa. It is one of Jupiter’s moons. Jupiter is the planet I am researching about in STEAM.”
