Applying to Yavneh

Applicants to Kindergarten must turn five years old by September 1st of the entering school year and be developmentally ready for a kindergarten placement. In evaluating children for admission to any grade, Yavneh considers the child’s strengths, needs, personality, and learning style in relation to the needs and functioning of the class and school as a whole.

The Application Process

Step 1: Visit Yavneh

Tour the School and/or attend an Open House event or call 408-984-6700.
Submit an inquiry form to schedule a tour.

Step 2: Apply Online

Submit an Online Application by January 24, 2020.
Late applications are reviewed on a rolling admission basis.

Kindergarten

Online Application includes:

  • $100 non-refundable application fee
  • Student photograph
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Student Evaluation Form (to be completed by your child’s current teacher)
  • Parent/Guardian Questionnaire

1st – 8th Grades

Online Application includes:

  • $100 non-refundable application fee
  • Student photograph
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Student Evaluation Form (to be completed by your child’s current teacher)
  • Release of School Records

Step 3: Financial Aid

If you will be applying for financial aid, complete online application.
Financial Aid applications are due January 30, 2020.

Step 4: Group Observation or Shadow Day

Group observation and shadow days occur in February 2020. Once we receive your application and supporting materials, we will contact you to schedule.

Kindergarten

Group Observation/Assessment:
Your child will be scheduled for a one hour group observation. This is an engaging way for us to get to know your child in a school-like setting, while assessing for kindergarten readiness.

1st – 8th Grade

Shadow Day:
Students applying for admission are invited to shadow an assigned student. 1st – 4th grade students will shadow for one day while middle schoolers shadow for two.

Step 5: Parent Meeting

As part of the application process, parents and Yavneh’s Head of School meet in February 2020 to discuss the student(s), family and school. Once we receive your application and supporting materials, we will contact you to schedule.

Step 6: Admissions Notifications

Admissions Notifications are emailed March 5, 2020.

Step 7: Enrollment Contracts Due

A signed enrollment contract with a non-refundable deposit of $1,250 is due by March 12, 2020 at 10am. For families with more than one student, the deposit is $2,000.
