Applying to Yavneh

Applicants to Kindergarten must turn five years old by September 1st of the entering school year and be developmentally ready for a kindergarten placement. In evaluating children for admission to any grade, Yavneh considers the child’s strengths, needs, personality, and learning style in relation to the needs and functioning of the class and school as a whole.

The Application Process

Step 1: Visit Yavneh

Tour the School and/or attend an Open House event or call 408-984-6700.
Currently, tours and open house events are virtual and not taking place on campus.
Submit an inquiry form to schedule a tour.

Step 2: Apply Online

Submit an Online Application by January 29, 2021.
Late applications are reviewed on a rolling admission basis.

Kindergarten

Online Application includes:

  • $100 non-refundable application fee
  • Student photograph
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Student Evaluation Form (to be completed by your child’s current teacher)
  • Parent/Guardian Questionnaire

1st – 8th Grades

Online Application includes:

  • $100 non-refundable application fee
  • Student photograph
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Student Evaluation Form (to be completed by your child’s current teacher)
  • Release of School Records

Step 3: Financial Aid

If you will be applying for financial aid, complete online application.
Financial Aid applications are due January 29, 2021.

Step 4: Group Observation or Shadow Day

Observation/assessment and shadow days typically occur in February 2021. Once we receive your application and supporting materials, we will contact you to schedule.

Kindergarten

Observation/Assessment:
Our kindergarten assessment is an engaging way for us to get to know your child in, while assessing for kindergarten readiness.  This year, assessments will take place online.

1st – 8th Grade

1-on1 Meetings:
This year, in lieu of shadow days, applying transfer students will meet 1-on-1 with a school administrator. There will also be opportunity for the child to virtually visit the classroom.

Step 5: Parent Meeting

As part of the application process, parents and Yavneh’s Head of School meet in February 2021 to discuss the student(s), family and school. Once we receive your application and supporting materials, we will contact you to schedule. (Currently, these meetings are being conducted virtually.)

Step 6: Admissions Notifications

Admissions Notifications are emailed March 4, 2021.

Step 7: Enrollment Contracts Due

A signed enrollment contract with a non-refundable deposit of $1,250 is due by March 11, 2021 at 10am. For families with more than one student, the total deposit due will be $2,000.
