Applying to Yavneh

Applicants to Kindergarten must turn five years old by September 1st of the entering school year and be developmentally ready for a kindergarten placement. In evaluating children for admission to any grade, Yavneh considers the child’s strengths, needs, personality, and learning style in relation to the needs and functioning of the class and school as a whole.

The Application Process

Step 3: Submit Required Documents

YDS requires the following admission supporting documents to complete your application:

Kindergarten Applicants:

  • Student photograph
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Parent/Guardian Questionnaire
  • Student Evaluation Form (to be completed by your child’s current teacher)

1st – 8th Grade Applicants:

  • Student photograph
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Parent/Guardian Questionnaire
  • Student Evaluation Form (to be completed by your child’s current teacher)
  • Release of School Records (including most recent school transcript)

Step 4: Student Visits

Once YDS has received all application and supporting documents, a school visit day (shadow day) or kindergarten assessment will be scheduled. The Admissions Office will contact you to schedule your student visit.

Kindergarten Applicants:

Our kindergarten (observation) assessment is an engaging way for us to get to know your child while assessing for kindergarten readiness for Yavneh. The assessment is around 1 hour.

1st – 8th Grade Applicants:

Applying transfer students will meet 1-on-1 with a school administrator, shadow at Yavneh in a peer group classroom, and have the opportunity to interact with students at Yavneh for a partial or full day.

Step 5: Parent Meeting

As part of the application process, parents and a member of Yavneh’s Administrative Team meet to discuss the student(s), family, and school. We will contact you to schedule your family meeting once we receive your application.

Step 6: Admissions Decisions

Admissions decision will be sent on March 14, 2024. We support a rolling admission policy for any remaining available spaces.

Step 6: Enroll

Upon acceptance, families will be asked to complete their child’s enrollment to Yavneh within 10 business days. Enrollment contracts are submitted online with a non-refundable enrollment deposit of $1000.
