Hello Yavneh Community,

Hanukkah is coming! Rabbi Hillel teaches us that we should increase in holiness – ma’alin b’kodesh. With every passing day of the holiday, we need to bring more light to the world. The way we want to increase holiness and bring more light to this Hanukkah is through a donation drive for PATH (People Assisting The Homeless), which is an organization that provides emotional support and necessities for the homeless.  We met last week with PATH employees who told us about how they go to homeless encampments, and offer them food and clothing, and other kinds of help. They explained their mission to bring dignity and assistance to every person they meet. Their job can be dangerous and difficult, but it is also very important and holy.

We need your help to bring more light (and warmth) to peoples lives!

You can help PATH by looking through you cupboards at home and  donating the following:

  • Blankets
  • Scarves
  • Jackets
  • Pants
  • Undershirts
  • Underwear (need to be new)
  • Anything else for warmth! – sleeping bags, blankets, gloves, beanies
  • (No  socks please)

All sizes are accepted, with priority on mens L-XXL, and darker colors are preferred, because they show fewer stains. There will be bins at pick-up and drop-off to donate the clothing. They won’t be categorized, so you can just place all of your donations into the same bin. We will be continuing the drive even after Hanukkah, into the first week back at school.

Please donate something –  anything helps. Take a look through your closets to find any clothing you can donate.

Thank you, Yavneh.  We couldn’t do this without you. Your help is appreciated, and brings more light to the world.

Chag Sameach,

Kitah Vav
