First graders are developing a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and the many ways of life that exist in the larger world. This week they put together a phenomenal multicultural event where each student presented their nation project. Students used their imagination to create their own countries and worlds by mapping out their nation, national flowers, animals, food, clothing, and flags. Nations included: “Google Village, Apple Village, Kind Village, Mermaid Lagoon, Love Land, and more.” Each student also shared family artifacts, heirlooms, and art.

Remy shares, “I learned about types of food that I didn’t even know about.”

Elai shares, “‘I liked designing the country because I used finger paint. The blue was for the deep deep water, red was lava volcano, and yellow was the sun.”
