In Yavneh News

That time, the White House chose the Yavneh menorah as a favorite!

Once upon a time during the Obama administration, the White House called on their blog readers to help find special menorahs for the White House Hanukkah receptions, asking, “What’s the story behind your menorah?” The announcement stated that they were looking for recommendations for menorahs for the candle-lighting ceremonies that told a story about family, community, or continuity of Jewish life here in the U.S., in Israel, or around the world.

Within one week, they received 54 submissions (3 X chai!) from throughout the country, with stories spanning centuries and the world. We joined in and submitted a photo and story about our menorah made by Yavneh students. Although it was not one of the two winners, it was one of the few chosen to be featured in the White House blog!
