In 8th grade chemistry, students did interesting experiments with crystallizing, burning, and combustion in different chemical reactions.

In 7th & 8th grade biology, students have learned about our body systems and how they function as one unit. There is a tremendous amount that can be learned from a fish dissection, which they experienced in a lab class together. They observed how anatomy and evolution topics come together. They also classified and recognized the structure and function of organs in systems such as the digestive, respiratory, circulatory, nervous, and even the reproductive system of the fish.

In 6th grade, students experimented many hard concepts they learned throughout the year. They tested the density of air and how it affects the buoyancy of objects, watched density-buoyancy relations in close demonstrated polarity of water, tested hydrophilic vs. hydrophobic substances in action, and more. Several experiments were done with a GIANT balloon filled with air captured while running in a group. It was quite the site, especially on spirit day when they were all dressed as minions.

Once again, Yavneh proving that middle school doesn’t stink!
