Purim is right around the corner and we’ve got lots of exciting activities planned to celebrate the holiday.

YPA Family Hamantaschen Bake

Sunday, March 13th

To kick off Purim, our YPA is hosting a Family Hamentashen Bake. Grab your favorite apron, join some friends and help bake cookies for our students’ Mishloach Manot – Purim gifts.

Purim Day Festivities at School

Thursday, March 17th

  • 8:40 – 9:45 am

    Songs, Megillah Reading, Shpiel

    (8th Grade Parents are welcome to join in person; all other parents can Zoom in)

    Reading the Megillah: Kitah Chet has learned the traditional trope (tune) for chanting the Megillah and will lead all of us in the reading of the Megillah.

    Shpiel: Turning everything upside down and things not being what they seem is a theme of Purim. Come watch Kitah Chet’s theatrical presentation of the Purim story in a way you have never heard before!

  • 9:45 – 10:00 am

    Costume Parade

    Costumes: Please keep in mind that all costumes must be in accordance with Yavneh’s dress code and no weapons are allowed. Please take into consideration the costumes your children are wearing and if they are appropriate for school. 

  • 10:30 – 11:30 am

    Purim activity stations

    Led by 8th-grade students

    Upside Down Tefillah

    Yavneh YPA Seudah BBQ

    We welcome Yavneh families to enjoy a seudah – a festive meal, engaging as a Yavneh community in one of the four mitzvot of Purim. Please enter through Yavneh’s basketball courts and proceed towards the JCC Field.

    Siblings invited. All children must be supervised.

    Please note, families will need to eat together as a family unit. Please bring a picnic blanket to sit on while you and your family enjoy your lunch. Kids in aftercare will join the BBQ.
