Yavneh Day School is proud to welcome Doug Hinko as Principal for K-8th grades. Doug brings 20 years of experience in education and was previously Head of PreK-8th Grade at Williamsburg Northside School in Brooklyn. He has extensive experience at Jewish day schools and expertise in STEAM education, project–based learning and curriculum integration. Doug has worked in progressive schools, as both a teacher and principal, and works collaboratively with students, teachers and parents to cultivate a warm and inspiring school environment.

“I am elated to be joining the unique Yavneh community and am honored to carry on the traditions (and begin some new ones) as I begin my journey as principal. Yavneh’s strong sense of community; commitment to academic excellence, diversity, and progressive education pedagogies are values that align with my own and I am looking forward to building upon these traditions that make Yavneh the special community that it is,” comments Doug.

Prior to serving as the Head PreK-8th Grade at Williamsburg, Doug was the Director of Innovation and Curriculum Integration at Sinai Akiba Academy, a Jewish Day school in Los Angeles. He also worked as a teacher and leader in Chicago and San Diego and has spent much of his career as a passionately student-centered educator and leader; being a uniter, a partner, and coach.

Yavneh is very pleased to be launching into the 2021-22 school year with Doug as a member of our team.
