Welcome from the Head of School

Shalom and welcome to the Yavneh Day School Website!

As you walk through the doors of our school and as you “walk” through the pages on our website, you can begin to grasp the meaning of our motto, Think, Care, Belong. At Yavneh, we build strong minds, encourage independent thinking and inspire creativity. We infuse Jewish values into the daily experience of our students’ and families’ lives. And, we create a community committed to a multi-faceted, complex understanding of our world.

At Yavneh, we embrace the concept of Jewish Peoplehood. This means we are an inclusive Jewish community school committed to meeting the diverse needs of our students, their families, and the larger school community. We seek not only to impart to our students an excellent secular and Judaic education, but also to respect each family’s expression of Jewish identity. Students learn to take comfort and pride in Peoplehood and to respect the diversity of our world.

As Yavneh continues to grow, we enhance our commitment to the education of our children. We emphasize the importance of Jewish Living, Learning and Academic Achievement as the foundation of our students’ values.  Our curriculum in both secular and Judaic studies is engaging and challenging. All students are taught by caring, highly-qualified professionals in a warm, educational environment, and every child is unique. Differentiated instruction helps to celebrate strengths and remediate weaknesses. Yavneh prepares students to become well-rounded adults who can think, reason, question, and respect tradition.

As a Jewish institution, we integrate the concept of tikkun olam (responsibility for repairing the world) throughout our curriculum. Our community service program enables students to contribute to the welfare of others by volunteering in public service activities. Students of all ages are taught the importance of making a difference in others’ lives, and to seek this level of satisfaction in their own lives. Community service is an essential component of our philosophy.

I encourage you to find out more about us as you explore our website or schedule a visit. We would be delighted to count you as part of the Peoplehood, among our families of Yavneh Day School.
