Yavneh Day School is a K-8, independent, Jewish Day School. We offer a welcoming, inclusive environment, regardless of synagogue affiliation or level of ritual observance.
We are located on the Levy Family Campus in Los Gatos, California which also houses the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center and Preschool, Jewish Family Services and the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley. Yavneh families have easy access to a state-of-the-art gym, tennis courts, swimming pool, athletic fields, a spacious auditorium, and numerous programs and special events throughout the year.
Our Mission is to provide academic excellence in General and Jewish Studies within a strong community where each child is celebrated and challenged. Our students demonstrate leadership, have a passion for learning and embrace social responsibility.
Our academic program develops self-motivated, independent thinkers, with strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills. Our curriculum exceeds California state standards and provides students with a broad range of educational experiences in language arts, mathematics, social sciences, science, Jewish studies, Hebrew language, technology, fine arts and athletics. Multi-level approaches are used in reading, math, and Hebrew language. A special Israeli curriculum addresses the needs of native Hebrew speakers while introductory Hebrew is available at every grade level. In addition to the core curriculum, the school year is filled with the joy of holiday celebrations, field trips and important school “lifecycle” events.
Our school day runs from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. for Kindergarten through 5th grade classes and from 8:15 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. for middle school classes. School ends at 3:00 p.m. on Friday for all students.
Our school year runs from late August through mid June. The school is closed for federal and major Jewish holidays.
After school care is available on campus through our wonderful Ha'Moadon program ("The Club") for students in grades K through 5th. Middle School students are welcome in the Middle School Lounge, open on school day afternoons until 6:00 p.m.
Our teachers are committed to developing the potential of every child. Many bring more than 20 years of experience. Our faculty includes those who have earned graduate degrees, and those who have lived and taught in Israel.
Parent Participation is critical to the success of our school. Every family is expected to earn 25 Parent Participation Credits “PPCs” to support school activities.
Our accreditation is through the California Association of Independent Schools.
School Tours and Prospective Family Open Houses are held throughout the year. Please check the Admissions section of the website for the current schedule or contact our Admissions Director, at 408-984-6700 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Financial aid is available through a confidential process, separate from our admissions process. Yavneh Day School is committed to making a Jewish Day School education accessible to every family.
