On Wednesday afternoon, we organized a virtual play date with our incoming Gan students. Morah Jamie taught a song with hand motions, Erin and our Gan teachers lead the game of Amazing Fetch and I embarrassed myself with a rousing rendition of “Cindy Says.” It was truly wonderful to see all of their smiling faces and makes the task of planning for next year even more important.
Our first day of school will be on August 25th – that date has and will remain the same. (For those keeping track, that’s only 96 days away). In order to focus our planning, the initial Contingency Task Force has split into three subgroups and enlisted the help of other interested parents.
- Diana will be leading the efforts with the Financial Considerations Group
- Rabbi Hahn Tapper will be leading the Educational Models Group
- I will be leading the Health and Safety Group
In addition, we are working together with Ari Kelman (Yavneh parent and Stanford professor of education) to create an in-depth survey to gain a better understanding of the diverse needs of parents so as to make sure they are considered in the planning process. The link to this new survey will be in next week’s Hashavua.
Over the next 4 weeks, these task forces will meet, review the survey data, and draft and share their suggestions. I’ll continue to give weekly updates and our goal is to share a draft of our comprehensive plan before the end of June.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions.
