Patrick Stone is very excited to join our team as a middle school science teacher and Life Lab
leader. Patrick has a life-long passion for science, learning, and the great outdoors. He has
developed youth environmental education programs for national treasures like the Lake Tahoe
Basin and the California State Parks system. Patrick recalls enjoying his junior ranger
experiences at national parks when he was a young boy. Similarly, his opportunity to create and
guide the development of a junior ranger program for California parks was extremely rewarding
as an adult. He believes experience is a crucial element of learning and looks forward to
creating new learning environments for our students.
Patrick has over 20 years of experience as a professional scientist in applied ecology and
environmental sciences. He acquired a B.S. in Biological Sciences/Evolution and Ecology from
the University of California, Davis in 2000 and is currently pursuing a masters degree in
education. He has provided expertise in ecology, wildlife, and habitat restoration to government
agencies and private businesses, including Apple and Google.
In his free time, Patrick can usually be found chasing his two toddlers around Vasona Lake,
while also trying to spot and identify a few migrant bird species. Often, he can be found at Los
Gatos High School field hockey games and track meets, cheering for his daughter and her
teammates. Occasionally, Patrick finds time for hiking, SUP excursions, and boating with
friends.
