Jeff Austin Middle School Global Research Teacher

Originally from Massachusetts, Jeffrey joins us after spending the last five years as a Professor of History and Humanities at San Jose City College. Trained as an educator as well as an historian, his academic background and professional experience provide him a unique combination of teaching skills and content knowledge.

He completed a joint BA in History and Anthropology as well as an undergraduate certificate in secondary education at U-Mass, Boston. A lifetime student, Jeffrey also holds graduate degrees from the University of Miami, FL, and Florida International University. His MA thesis at UM focused on feminism prior to the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848. At FIU he completed his doctoral exams along with his MA in Trans-Atlantic History.

His yet to be finished doctoral thesis focuses on the California Wine Industry because Napa and Sonoma are better places to conduct research than a Civil War Museum.
