Parents are our Partners
Parent Participation
Yavneh welcomes the involvement of entire families in the school community.
Parents volunteer in the classroom, participate in holiday celebrations,
provide input on school-wide issues and raise money to strengthen and
broaden school programs and to ensure that families from all economic
backgrounds may receive the benefit of a Yavneh education.
Family Education
At Yavneh, we are committed to educating families in Jewish thought
and practice. The Yavneh Parent Association (YPA) and the school administration
create community-building activities with Jewish content, as well as
adult learning opportunities. We also sponsor grade-level milestone events
for students and their families (such as the Alef Siddur presentation).
Our goal is to empower families to become partners with teachers and
rabbis in transmitting Jewish heritage and tradition to our children.
Room Parents
Room parents support the teachers with special activities and events
and providing school-wide information to other parents in the class.
They serve as liaisons between the teachers and the other parents.
Parent Participation Credits (PPCs)
Each family is required to earn 25 Parent Participation Credits during
the school year. Some PPCs may be earned by working in your child's cassroom,
serving on the Board of Trustees or as a committee chairperson, becoming
an officer of the YPA or assisting in the school office. The majority
of PPCs, however, are expected to be earned through direct assistance
in fundraising efforts.
Yavneh Parent Association
The goals of the YPA are:
- To support an interactive relationship among parents, staff and the
Board of Directors.
- To promote a sense of community and common interests among the families
of Yavneh.
- To sponsor activities which will bring students, parents and faculty
closer together.
